Our
Story

Founded in 2015, Princess Janae Place is the first New York State community-based housing organization led by and designed for people of transgender experience. We offer our members a safe gender-affirming environment to:​

  • Connect with community

  • Access education and vocational services

  • Receive mental health counseling and attend support groups

  • Attend recreational activities and trainings

  • Obtain referrals to mental and physical healthcare including gender-affirming care

Princess Janae Place was named in honor of Princess Janae Banks, a fierce and beloved advocate within the TGNC community. Known for her unwavering support of marginalized individuals, especially those experiencing housing instability, Princess Janae embodied resilience, compassion, and empowerment. Her commitment to helping others find safe and affirming spaces has inspired our mission and vision.
